Mogl, a loyalty program for restaurants, has changed its model from a flat 10 percent cash-back rate to a variable real-time system that lets restaurants adjust their rewards based on demand.
The change means that diners can now pick up extra cash during off-hours, but they’ll also probably get less when eating during peak times. Under the new model, you can see incentives as high as 30 percent cash back and as low as 5 percent. Mogl has updated its app so that users can search based on cash-back amounts to find which venues offer the best discount.
Mogl’s strategy of encouraging users to donate their rewards to a local food bank hasn’t changed with the new system. Customers can still choose to give all or a portion of their rewards toward ending hunger. The startup says its members have donated over 600,000 meals to date.
